Funds calculator

These tools are for general information only. For any further details, please contact your registered migration agent.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the visa lodgment date, then each course start, end, total tuition and any tuition already paid.
  2. Add a partner or child only if they are included. Tick schooling only for a school-age child.
  3. Add each source of funds. For foreign currency, enter how many units equal 1 Australian dollar.
  4. Read the result. This estimates the funds method only, not the annual income option.

Application

365 days is treated as 12 months. If the first course starts after lodgment, the course start date is used. If the course has already started, the lodgment date is used.

Courses

Enter each Confirmation of Enrolment. Paid tuition is counted from the course start date forward. Study already completed before the calculation start is not deducted again.

Living and schooling amounts

These match the Student visa amounts in force from 10 May 2024. You can edit them if the published amounts change. Shorter stays are pro-rated by dividing the annual amount by 365, then multiplying by the number of days.

Primary applicant

Travel is an estimate, not a set government amount. In Australia starts at 1,000. Outside Australia starts at 2,000. Change it to the airfare you will use.

For foreign currency, enter how much of that currency equals 1 Australian dollar. For example, 1 AUD = 58.50 INR.

Living and schooling use the annual amounts above, divided by 365 and multiplied by the days in the calculation period, up to 365 days. Course fees in that period are a daily share of each course’s total tuition. Tuition already paid is used up from the course start date first.
